Corner Blocks

Corner Blocks

Corner blocks, although they can be hard to configure, offer the opportunity to create a truly unique home. Meridian Homes is highly experienced in corner block house plans and can help you get the most out of your corner block home.

If you are yet to buy land, build or purchase, here are all the reasons why going with a corner block is a great idea for your home.

More Privacy: When you’re sandwiched between two or three other houses it can feel as though you have no privacy. Being situated on the corner of a street, you will have one less neighbour backing onto your property, offering more privacy and less neighbour noise, making your house feel more secluded.

More Natural Light: In an ordinary block where your front-facing home will be bordered by houses on at least two sides, your options for windows can become limited. This is especially true if the houses are built close together or are very tall because almost all incoming light will be blocked, leaving you with a dark home. Corner block house designs do an amazing job of letting in as much light as possible, especially if your block of land is north facing.

More Access Points: Depending on local laws, you will be able to choose where you want to place your driveway crossing, garage and front door, giving you greater flexibility in the design process, which can be particularly useful if you have a sloping block of land.

More Flexibility: If you work from home, or are planning to run a business from home, a corner block gives you the option to have a side entry point on the street where you can set up an office that is completely separate from your private space.

Overall, corner blocks give you the freedom to design a unique home that fits your needs plus all the advantages that come with having a two frontage house.
